Sir Issac Newton,
born on Christmas Day 1642 (Julian Calendar), was one of the most
formidable minds in history. He was a mathematical and scientific
genius, whose labors were responsible for not only for his
famous
Theory of Gravitation, but also for the branch of
mathematics known as Calculus and for a great deal
of our early understanding of Optics. In fact,
his design for a reflecting telescope remains in use,
basically unchanged, to this day. |
