This course focuses on the application of physics to astrophysical situations, specifically the formation, evolution, and death of stars. We begin with a review of light and the formation of stellar spectra. Following this review of the basic physics of stellar spectra, we will review how stars form, how light interacts with matter deep within a star (radiative transfer) and in its outer layers (stellar atmospheres), the structure of stars, and finally their evolution.
